At the recent Triangle AI Summit, Nicoleta Economou-Zavlanos, director of Duke Health AI Evaluation & Governance Program, led a panel on Trustworthy and Responsible AI. She was joined by Robert Califf, former Commissioner of the FDA; Stephen Kearney, Global Medical Director at SAS; and Professor Jun Yang of Duke University. The group shared practical insights on building AI systems that are ethical, transparent, and grounded in real-world needs. The panel sparked thoughtful discussion and highlighted the value of bringing diverse perspectives to the table, particularly in healthcare. It also reflected the mission of the Duke Health AI Evaluation & Governance Program: to support the development of safe, fair, and useful AI tools through strong oversight and collaboration.
