A new study in JAMA Cardiology looks at how the PREVENT score, a tool used to estimate a person’s risk of developing heart disease, performs in everyday clinical care using electronic health record data. Duke researchers Chuan Hong, PhD, Nicoleta Economou, PhD, and colleagues examined how well the model works in real-world settings and what that means for identifying patients at risk. The findings offer important insight into how risk tools can be used more effectively in routine care.
